      ...Deputy Sheriff Sam Walker started last night for the Indian Territy [sic] to bring back Ed Womack who killed a man named McDonald in Temple in the winter of 1882. The killing occurred in the establishment run by Rufe Bigham as a saloon, and ten-pin alley, and Womack made his escape after slaying his victim by riding off a horse hitched near the saloon...

      R. M. Bigham Seriously Injured.
      While driving over the M. K. & T. tracks near the depot Tuesday, Mr. R. M. Bigham was jolted from his seat, resulting in the wagon-wheels running over him, badly crushing a shoulder, and causing internal injuries. These, fortunately, are not considered necessarily fatal; tho [sic] they are painful indeed.

      He is resting as easily as possible ae tht [sic] residence on South Sixth street.

      *According to the 29 May 1908 Bell County Democrat (Texas), "Rufe" Bigham filed suit against the M. K. & T. Railway Co. for personal injury.

      PAINFUL ACCIDENT TTO [sic] MR. R. M. BIGHAM
      Grover Bigham, The Telegram's circulator, reports his father, R. M. Bigham, to be resting comfortably at the family residence on East Barton avenue; from the painful accident sustained Monday when the limb of a tree fell on his right leg, breaking a small bone.

      Mr. Bigham expects to be able to be out again within the next ensuing few days.

      MORTUARY REPORT.

      R. M. Bigham.
      Friends and relatives were shocked and grieved to learn by wire of the sudden death of R. M. Bigham, which occurred yesterday morning at the home of his son, Gid Bigham, in Fort Worth, where he went for a visit ten or twelve days ago. The body will be brought to Temple on the 1:10 train this morning, and the hour for the funeral is to be decided upon later.

      Mr. Bigham was 60 years of age, and was one of the pioneer citizens of Bell county. The family home in Temple is at 712 East Barton avenue. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Joe Dunlap, Mrs. Robt. Warden and Miss Lola Bigham, and five sons, Messrs. Gid, Lon, Tom, Clarence and Grover Bigham. The last named son is now in one of the hospitals in Temple, having undergone an operation for appendicitis a few days ago.

      Mrs. Bigham, in response to a message telling of the sudden and serious illness of her husband, reached Fort Worth just before her husband's death, and will accompany the remains to Temple this morning.
