Notes - - The Hondo Anvil Herald ran the following obituary:
"Mrs. J. W. (Maude) Ulbrich passed away Saturday and funeral services were held Sunday with Rev. Arthur Cox, pastor of the First Methodist Church, in charge. The sermon was given by Rev. H. Ellis Thomas, pastor of the First Methodist Church in Uvalde.
Mrs. Ulbrich was born in Devine on Nov. 7, 1877, and was 72 years old at the time of her death. She was married to John W. Ulbrich in 1900 and moved to Hondo in 1909 with her family where she had lived since. Mrs. Ulbrich was a member of the Methodist Church, having been united with it in 1937.
She is survived by three sons, Jack and Jean Ulbrich of Hondo and C. P. Ulbrich of Carrizo Springs; seven daughters, Mrs. Maude Wehmeyer, Mrs. Myrtle Moore, Mrs. Margaret Weiss, Mrs. Lois Bowman, Mrs. Dorothy Siddall, Mrs. Virginia Meyer, and Mrs. Fern McKinney; one sister, Mrs. Ida Mae Atkins of Galveston; and 29 grandchildren.
Pall bearers were Henry Merriman, O. A. Fly, Henry Windrow, T. C. Barnes, Bruno Schweers, and Ed Ney.
Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Hondo."
