Notes - Death Note: He was a veteran of the Mexican War. [Source: Judy Jacobson, Alabama & Mississippi Connections: Historical & Biographical Sketches of Families Who Settled on Both Sides of the Tombigbee River] -- According to his pension card, Haywood H. fought with "Armstrongs & Evans, Texas Rangers." [United States Mexican War Pension Index, 1887-1926 at FamilySearch.org]
From Judy Jacobson's Alabama & Mississippi Connections:
"One possible child was not mentioned in his will. According to a 1900 Macon Beacon, Heyward Lincecum, age 75 and a Mexican War veteran, died on April 9, 1900 leaving a son Brooks Lincecum and a sister Mrs. J. B. Cole. Supposedly Grabel had a grandson named Leo Cole. So was Heyward the son of Grabel? Both "Hairwood" and "Ducia A." Lincecum/Lincicum were in the Mississippi 1850 census as heads of households. On November 3, 1842, a Wilmouth Lincecum married James P. Haynes. Since Grabrel [sic] died in 1836, was this Grabel's wife or daughter Wilmouth."
