Lynching in West Virginia.
CHARLESTON, W. Va., July 4 -- Yesterday afternoon Colly Robinson,
colored, shot and killed Charles Williams, colored, at Caperton. The
trouble grew out of Williams's intimacy with Robinson's wife. Robinson
escaped, but later surrendered to the officers, and was taken by a mob
of blacks and whites and lynched. Robinson's wife, whom the mob sought,
took to the mountains and escaped the fate of her paramour.
